Advanced Seminar SS 2024
Current topics of Experimental Condensed Matter Research
Mo. 14:00-15:00 h at the II. Physikalisches Institut, University of Cologne.
The subject of the Advanced Seminar in summer term 2024 is to introduce some current topics of the condensed matter research of the various experimental research groups at the Institute of Physics II of the University of Cologne. The idea is that in each talk one or two recent publications about the research topic will be presented by the students. The aim of the talks is to present the basic new findings of these publications, to give an overview about the scientific background of the corresponding research field and to discuss the used experimental techniques.
Organisational meeting
Possible subjects of the seminar talks can be from the following fields:
- Correlated states in 2D materials
- From GMR effect to coupled skyrmion bubbles in magnetic multilayers
- Symmetry of the superconducting order parameter in Sr2RuO4 : 30 years of controversy
- Quantum spin systems in magnetic fields
- RIXS (Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering) on Mott insulators
- Broadband Sub-Phonon Spectroscopy
- Quantum anomalous Hall effect
- High-frequency transport in topological edge states
- Electronic interferences in quantum conductors
- ...
There will be an organisational meeting on Monday, April 15th at 14:00 in the Seminar Room 202 of the II. Physikalisches Institut.
Additional Info: The Advanced Seminar on Condensed Matter Physics is offered every 2nd semester. Thus, there will be no Advanced Seminar on Condensed Matter Physics in winter term 24/25.
